for centuries the expansion of our real world with the unreal and the dreamlike has been an important driving force of the visual arts. the effort to extend the realm of experience, limited by human logic, through the fantastic and the absurd has been and still is a catalyst for the further development of art.

only the boundlessness of the individual’s imagination allows art to do everything: to make the invisible visible, to suspend gravity, to make the impossible possible. trierenberg art dedicates this art project to images that often detonate like time bombs on the retina of the viewer only at a second glance.

what unites all the artists of this project is an overflowing imagination. they play with perspectives and optical laws. their focus is on exploring possibilities, giving wings to the spirit with the help of the brush. their art is figurative, created in old master technique and at the highest level of painting.

starting from historical developments such as the magical realism of franz sedlacek and the eye-deceiving technique of trompe-l’œil by ludwig schwarzer, the exhibition leads to important local contemporaries such as benedetto fellin, frank glanz, peter gric, franz neuwirth, peter unterweissacher and sepp hinterleitner.
